China-US Import Export Numbers

Take a look at China-US import export numbers and YTD growth

The Trump administration announced a fresh round of tariffs against China. As everyone wades through what is getting hit with tariffs, take a look at key areas of growth in China-US Import/Exports. Total Chinese exports are up 13% in figure 1. Total Chinese imports from the US are up 11% in figure 2. In side by side comparisons of foodstuffs, growth is double in foodstuffs going into China than foodstuffs heading to the US. Base metals are higher: 24% growth in imports from US, compared to 7% export to the US. An outlier that should be addressed is the 231% growth in art imports from the US. One word: smuggling.
