Shirley Strawberry Sued For Not Paying Rent

Shirley Strawberry may be well known to regular radio listeners as the right-hand woman to Steve Harvey on his morning show, but according to EURWeb, she’s likely to start making headlines for a very different reason—not paying her rent on time, according to a lawsuit being filed against her by her homeowner’s leasing agent.
The story was originally broken by TMZ, who said that Strawberry is being sued by Pacific Shore Property Management, claiming that she and her husband, Ernesto Williams were deadbeat tenants when it came to the Los Angeles property she was renting and its $7500 per month bill. Documents say that she had a 1-year lease at that price, and paid for the first month, but her May payment came 25 days late, with nothing paid after that.
According to the homeowner, Strawberry only provide excuses when it came to the rent, and when sheriffs finally came to evict her in September, she wasn’t present. The lawsuit is designed to get both rent owed and late fees.
Strawberry’s radio career started in the mid-80s, where she served as a radio jock in at Chicago’s WCGI-FM, where she was the co-host of the Doug Banks Show. By the 90’s, she got the attention of Hollywood radio, working at 92.3 The Beat, KKBT-FM. She has worked with Steve Harvey for over a decade on the radio, and is best known for the Strawberry Letter segment. In this segment, she and Harvey offer honest advice to listeners who write letters about life issues. A book was later created from these answers called The Strawberry Letter—Real Talk. Strawberry has been married to her husband since 2015, where he proposed to her live on the radio. Ernesto Williams is an entrepreneur, whose businesses have been featured in publications like the New York Times. Some of these, like the “24-Hour Barber Shop,” draws from his over 20 years of experience as a barber. With all this success, it would be interesting to see what drives them not to pay their rent.
