5 Black-Owned Business That Make More Money Than Your Favorite Entertainers

Let’s be honest, when we think of Black-owned businesses we often think of mom and pop start-ups, barber shops, beauty salons or possibly even record labels – small operations with very few employees. Perhaps we think of people like Jay Z or Sean “Diddy” Combs ?? Entertainment moguls living lavish lifestyles.
Did you know that there are actually Black-owned businesses that are employing hundreds, even thousands of people and generating annual sales of $100 million – even billions?!
Now, I am not being condescending towards owners of small businesses nor discrediting the successes of Jay Z or Puffy. I absolutely applaud them for taking destiny in their own hands and achieving financial independence, but this article can hopefully be inspirational for those who already have their own business or looking to start their own business.
The sky truly is the limit and here are 5 examples of Black-owned companies that you probably never heard of that make $500 million or more per year.
World Wide Technology Inc – Founded by David L. World Wide Technology Inc earns more than $6.7 billion in annual revenue, staffs more than 3000 employees and has more than 2 million square feet of warehousing, distribution and integration space.

The Anderson-Dubose Company: Founded by Warren E. Anderson and based in Lordstown, OH, this company provides logistic solutions in the quick service industry delivering to more than 500 McDonald’s and Chipotle restaurants in three states.
Anderson-Dubose employs 400 people and makes more than $540 million annually. BLACK OWNED !!
Global Alliance Automotive: Based in the rebounding city of Detroit, MI, this company is a global automotive parts supplier with a worldwide network of independent companies that provide solutions to the evolving needs in the automotive industry.
Global Alliance Automotive is Black-owned and makes about $520 million a year.
Thompson Hospitality: Founded by Warren M. Thompson and based in Reston, VA, they are the largest minority-owned Retail Food service and Facilities Management companies in the country. This Black-owned, family-run organization has more than 4,000 employees and makes just under $500 million a year.
We are often shown visuals of athletes and entertainers as examples of success, and they are, but it is important to know that there are Black-owned corporations that are leading other industries too.
