There is a growing consciousness among folks to eat healthy and protect the environment. Unfortunately, the market is flooded with products that aren’t good for human consumption or the ecosystem in general.
Interestingly, there are still people who’ve chosen to consistently produce organic, healthy and eco-friendly products for their customers. Such products don’t harm the environment, whether at the production, use, or disposal stage. These could be drinks, hair care, and skincare among other eco-friendly products.
In this article, we share a short preview of eight Black-owned businesses that insist on selling organic, healthy and environmental friendly products.
Alice Inc. – This is a skincare company that hand-makes creams, butters, oils and soaps, targeting all types of natural hair and skin. The top ingredients they use include jojoba oil, coconut oil, and olive oil among others.
Gilliard Farms – This is an organic farm located in Brunswick, Georgia. The farm was established in 1876 and it has never used chemicals in crop production.
CURLS, LLC – This company was founded by Mahisha Dellinger in 2002 in Elk Grove, California. The company is a leader in the production of natural hair care products and is strict on using only certified organic ingredients in making their products.
True Laundry Detergent – The company focuses on the production of environmental friendly laundry detergents. They’re currently doing business in more than 18 states and boast of 25 distributors.
Ellis Island Tea – Ellis Infinity Beverage Company is a producer of natural hibiscus tea with a Jamaican blend. They specialize in Ellis Island Tropical Tea. It was founded in 2008 and it borrows its recipe from the founder’s great grandfather. Its products are made in Detroit, Michigan.
Shea Moisture – The company is a reputable producer of all-natural products for skin, hair, body and bath products. They produce products for both men and women.
Naturalicious – This is a producer and seller of non-toxic hair care products. The Detroit-based company was founded by Gwen Jimmere. It donates a large portion of its profits to Services to Enhance Potential (STEP), an organization that works to secure employment opportunities for people in need.
BLAC Minerals – This is a company that produces all natural makeup products for women of color. Their products have no propylene, petroleum, benzene, phthalates, triclosan or any other chemicals.
