This is the fourth year FedEx will sponsor the contest. The prizes are nothing to sneeze at, either:
- First place – $25,000
- Second place – $15,000
- Third place – eight winners of $7,500
In order to be entered, all you have to do is visit the FedEx grant registration site and
- Create a profile for your business.
- Upload a photo of your logo and three photos of your business or product.
- Create an optional 90-second video with an “elevator pitch” for your business.
To start your profile, you should share the story about your business. What inspired you to start it, why you want to own a business, and how will winning help you achieve your goals?
FedEx says that they get hundreds of incredible entries ranging from for-profit business to non-profits. Some are brand new startups, and others are established second and third generation businesses looking to upgrade their web presence, improve their websites, etc.
According to the FedEx website, “This will be our fourth year to award small-business grants to help designers, craftsmen, butchers, and everything in between. But that’s not all — winners also become a part of a community of successful entrepreneurs, gain and share valuable insights from peers, and receive great exposure for their businesses.”
The contest opens on May 3 and the submission period runs until May 30. The top 100 entrants will be notified by email. The top 100 must provide a second-round submission video to continue on in the contest. The winners will be announced on July 11. Small business entrants must meet eligibility rules such as being independently owned and having been in business for at least six months prior to the contest submission. All of the rules can be found on the submission website: http://smallbusinessgrant.fedex.com/home/rules
