The cast of “Barbershop: The Next Cut” continue to make their media rounds before the movie hits theaters on April 15th, and they’re sharing more with their fans than just interesting tidbits from the set of the movie. They’re actually dropping jewels on how to be successful, no matter where you come from. The rapper/actor Eve comes from Philadelphia. She became famous as a member of the DMX’s rap group called the Ruff Riders back in the 90’s and early 2000. After that, she went on to star in her own television show. Now she’s a successful actress and travels around the world.

According to the Huffington Post, Eve says that she wants to inspire women to be whatever they want to be in life. “I’m a regular chick from Philly that literally has built a life, because I wanted it to be a certain way, and we can do whatever we want. I believe anywhere you’re born, doesn’t mean you have to stay. You can transcend whatever situation you’re in. You can make any type of life you want. You can literally do whatever it is you want. I am living proof of it. So I hope that I hold the torch for us women.”

Ice Cube has gone from living in Compton California, to being one of the biggest movie stars and movie producers in Hollywood. He became famous as a member of the iconic rap group N.W.A. The group was just inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame and they helped influence the way rappers shared their stories on wax. “We made it OK for all artists to be themselves no matter what. Because artists used to go underground, they would do these clean, happy records and then be Ike Turner in the back. So the thing is, we want artists to be real. Not to be afraid to be themselves. Hopefully, my career, my group had a small part in opening other artists up to be themselves and not be in this ‘goody two shoe’ shell that show business used to think you had to be in to make it big.”

Ice Cube and Eve reunited for “Barbershop: The Next Cut.” The movie centers around Ice Cube’s character named “Calvin.” He owns the shop and he and the other barbers get together “in an attempt to save their establishment and neighborhood from local crime.” The movie also stars comedian Cedric the Entertainer and rapper/actor Common.
