How Much Money Does Media Mogul Oprah Winfrey Really Have?
By Simi Afroza Mira
Oprah Winfrey recently celebrated her 61st birthday and looking back in time, she has done amazing things in those years. There are not enough words to describe Oprah, but we can certainly start with journalist, philanthropist, actress, producer, talk show host, media tycoon, and the list could go on and on. Her complete career has been nothing but one of success after success, and that has garnered her a net worth of $3 billion. When her talk show was at its peak, she was pulling in about $300 million per year, and she’s still managing to bring in about $100 million a year.
Celebrity Net Worth posed the question of how much money Oprah could spend each second of each day for the rest of her life if she decided to quit working today and spend every cent of her billions. These calculations were based on the theory that she will live to be the average life expectancy age of an American female; which is 82. (Just for the record that is 5 years longer than the American male life expectancy.)
The scenario also includes the idea that she would donate any future income to charitable foundations. This means that for the next 21 years, Oprah could spend $142,857,142 each year. She could spend $11,904,761 every month. To take it further, she could blow $396,825 every single day. The mogul could spend $18,896 each hour, $314 each minute, and $5 every second. Most people could not even fathom this idea because it is so hard to even imagine having those kinds of funds at our disposal.
According to the Look to the Stars website, Oprah does not just sit on top of her billions and ignore the less-fortunate. She is involved in 22 charities and foundations, with the majority of her charitable funds attributing to The Angel Network, The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, and The Oprah Winfrey Operating Foundation. Some of the causes that these establishments help are The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa and Rebuilding the Gulf Coast.
The OWN network CEO donates her time and money to other people’s causes as well. She has supported GLAAD, the Clinton Foundation, the Red Cross, 46664, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, and a list of others.
