Why Isn’t Kanye West Tripping About Being $53 Million In Debt?

By Robert Stitt

Kanye West has dropped money like it has no value. His lifestyle is one of tabloid dreams with a $20 million Bel Air mansion, private jets, lush vacations, a clothing line, and music albums. Would you believe he can’t afford any of it? According to Kanye, the entire lifestyle has been purchased on credit. In fact, a recent Twitter rant has Kanye claiming he is $53 million in debt!

While most of us struggle under the weight of our financial encumbrances, Kanye simply moves on and asks his loyal “brothers” to understand, pray, and help him out. “I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt… Please pray we overcome… This is my true heart…”

Debt is not new to Kanye. Last year he claimed to be $16 million in the red while launching his “Yeezy” clothing line. He told BET, “I was trying to play a sport that’s a billionaire sport. It’s not a millionaire sport and I’m proud of the debt. I don’t care about somebody’s Ghost (Phantom) or somebody’s house. I care about my vision.”

How did $16 million spiral in $53 million? His lavish lifestyle didn’t help. Neither did the delays on his latest album which has been renamed, once again. If you were waiting to hear the album “So Help Me God”, “Swish”, or “Waves”, you are out of luck. The final title is “The Life of Pablo” which Kanye says is a reference to the Apostle Paul.

Kanye announced via Twitter, “Paul…The most powerful messenger of the first century… Now we stand here 20 centuries later… Because he was a traveler…He was a learned man not of the original sect so he was able to take the message to the rest of the world…”

Kanye officially released his latest album at Madison Square Garden while presenting the newest editions to his Yeezy clothing line. He then followed up with a performance on SNL. His songs received mixed reviews and the focus of his clothing line was not the clothes, but the fact that Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce, was wearing one of the Yeezy dresses and posing with the girls. This is what set Twitter abuzz.

Kanye stuck up for his family and wrote: ‘I’m proud of this picture with me and Caitlyn…She gave the most heart felt speech at my wedding…and was there in full support to see me realize this dream…” He then told everyone who did not support Yeezy that they “dissed the collection that changed the world” and “probably got bootleg Yeezy’s on right now…”

Kanye finished his SNL performance the same way he finished his Twitter rants, with a plug for his album. What else do you do when you’re $53 million in debt?
