I sooo agree with you AND Dr. Claude Anderson on this issue of financial freedom. If we, not only young African Americans, could see clearly enough to UNDERSTAND that our "materials" and "keeping up with the Joneses" is killing rather than keeping us, we might have a real chance at a good life. In the end, the need to pay the bills that we often unnecessarily make, is what holds us in this ever- revolving circle of economic captivity. We also need help in defining "NEEDS" as opposed to "DESIRES" or "WANTS". We often feel that because of our difficult beginnings in this country that we "DESERVE" to have all of our desires; and we do, BUT, not at the price of ransoming our entire lives and those of our families and loved ones. Somehow, the message must get through that all of our dreams are not fulfilled at the high cost of "THINGS". However, as long as we are bombarded daily with media suggestions as to what is valued and reward; we will never be able to make choices for ourselves or in our best interests. I'm still listening, Dr. Watkins. Keep talking and teaching!!
