Voting for Pedophiles OK "If They're Republican"

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey will vote for Roy Moore, despite numerous sexual misconduct charges. The reason: "He's Republican"

Moore is running in a special election to fill a soon to be vacated Senate seat.

On Friday, Alabama governor Kay Ivey told reporters that she had no reason to disbelieve the sexual misconduct charges allegations against Roy Moore.

Multiple women have accused Moore of sexual misconduct in recent weeks, including one woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 16 and another who said Moore initiated a sexual encounter with her when she was 14 and he was 32.

Republican leaders in Congress, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), have called on Moore to exit the race, and the Republican National Committee cut off fundraising ties to Moore’s campaign this week.

But Moore has vowed he won’t step down from the race, instead calling on McConnell to step down.

Roy Moore’s Interactions with Teen Girls at the Gadsden Mall

On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that, when Moore was a thirty-two-year-old assistant district attorney in Etowah County, he brought Leigh Corfman, who was fourteen years old at the time, to his home and sexually molested her.

Three additional women told the Post that Moore had pursued them when they were in their teens and he was in his early thirties. (On Monday, another woman, Beverly Young Nelson, said that Moore assaulted her when she was sixteen years old. At a press conference, she held up a high-school yearbook that she said Moore signed before the alleged assault.) Two of the women say that they first met Moore at the Gadsden Mall, and the Post reports that several other women who used to work there remembered Moore’s frequent presence—“usually alone” and “well-dressed in slacks and a button-down shirt.”

This past weekend, I spoke or messaged with more than a dozen people—including a major political figure in the state—who told me that they had heard, over the years, that Moore had been banned from the mall because he repeatedly badgered teen-age girls. Some say that they heard this at the time, others in the years since. These people include five members of the local legal community, two cops who worked in the town, several people who hung out at the mall in the early eighties, and a number of former mall employees. (A request for comment from the Moore campaign was not answered.) Several of them asked that I leave their names out of this piece.

“Sources tell me Moore was actually banned from the Gadsden Mall and the YMCA for his inappropriate behavior of soliciting sex from young girls,” the independent Alabama journalist Glynn Wilson wrote on his Web site on Sunday. (Wilson declined to divulge his sources.) Teresa Jones, a deputy district attorney for Etowah County in the early eighties, told CNN last week that “it was common knowledge that Roy dated high-school girls.” Jones told me that she couldn’t confirm the alleged mall banning, but said, “It’s a rumor I’ve heard for years.”

Legat says that he saw Moore there a few times, even though his understanding then was that he had already been banned. “It started around 1979, I think,” Legat said. “I know the ban was still in place when I got there.” Legat recalled a Gadsden police officer named J. D. Thomas, now retired, who worked security at the mall. “J. D. was a fixture there, when I was working at the store,” Legat said. “He really looked after the kids there. He was a good guy. J. D. told me, ‘If you see Roy, let me know. He’s banned from the mall.’ ” Legat recalled Thomas telling him, “If you see Moore here, tell me. I’ll take care of him.’ ” Legat said that his boss, Eddie Hill, also told him to look for Moore. A phone call to Hill’s number was not returned.

Republican Values

None of this matters to Governor Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, who has "no reason to disbelieve the accusers". She explains her position nicely. He has "Republican values".

Excuse me for asking, but does chasing teenage girls at malls or molesting them constitute "Republican values"?

By the way, if the recent polls are correct, Moore is going to get trounced by Democratic candidate Doug Jones in the runoff. This will cut the already slim Senate Majority from 52-48 to 51-49.

Given that Senate Republicans already struggle to pass anything, another Senate loss is significant.

Cheers to those with enough integrity to not vote for this scumbag simply because he has Republican values.

If Moore had any values at all, of any kind, he would drop out.

I would vote for Mr. Moore. After 40 years and multiple elections I get very suspicious when I see Gloria Allred on the scene. I can recall her trotting forth many accusers against Gov. Schwarzenegger here in California just prior to election with promises to sue him into oblivion. Post election....what a surprise it all went away.

Moore should be disqualified from office because he doesn't believe in the constitution or the rule of law. It seems that he was a creep and a sexual offender 40 years ago. He got away with it. I'm sure he still lives with the desire for teenage girls but somehow he was able to fix himself and stay clean for the last 40 years. I'd give him a break.

More SJW idiocy and raw hypocrisy as we have come to expect from Mish and his rapidly sinking self converged blog... Beside the Gadsden Mall story being exposed as a fabrication by the Mall manager himself , the only underage Moore accuser has already been caught in so many lies that only an idiot or a democrat (but I repeat myself) would believe her.

Go watch Stefan Molyneux;s Youtube videos for the lowdown. While you're at it watch the one dealing with Democrat Senator Menendez' trial and his escapades with underage prostitutes, something you will never hear on here.

It is pretty sad to see what a Fake News outlet this blog has devolved into...

PS: Some of us have a brain and remember Gloria Allred and her parade of fake accusers trying to take down Trump a month before the 2016 Presidential election. It did not work then and it won't work now...

Mish is as bad as Ben Shapiro for believing accusations without a real investigation. Not only no consequences for false accusations but Allred is know for paying off witnesses. See Allred on MSNBC where she couldn't confirm the yearbook signature was genuine?

If this was one or two accusers I would be suspicious. It's at least a half-dozen. And the governor admits that she has no reason to disbelieve the accusers. You have to be an idiot to support Moore.

Based on that, Al Franken must also resign from the Senate. Allred must produce the yearbook immediately and keep quiet about it until it’s been examined.

The Alabama Governor’s statement is bad but it seems these days that people come out of the woodwork to accuse politicians when they run for office and cries go out for them to drop out. I would like to see actual evidence of wrongdoing no matter who is being accused before I condemn a person. If he is arrested or charged then there is probable evidence but we have seen multiple accusers before that have turned out to be purely political. In American we no longer assume anyone is innocent until proof is given of wrongdoing. The mentality of the people is crucify based on allegations and rumors.

I appreciate your stance on this Mish. All of our politicians should be above reproach. Mr. Moore should quit this race. Al Franken should resign. Bill Clinton should have resigned over The Lewinsky affair. Unfortunately, the American people themselves have become so corrupted by the propaganda they see and read everyday, that they are no longer able to judge right from wrong. As the many posters above amply demonstrate. Party over nation!

Republican,. Democrat. How irrelevant. ITs not about Trump either. You;re upset with Moore for whom there is no proof just innuendo, but not for proven assault and abuse?? Yeah, I know where this goes.

Mish, you have to be an idiot to judge anyone based on accusations, especially when politics is involved. The smoking gun is not that 2 or 6 accusers came out, it is the fact that ALL of the establishment media are in relentless lockstep to take down Moore. Are you part of the establishment? Besides, I would think IL has more than enough scumbag politicians that need to be judged based on their actions and deeds.

The fact the governor decided not to judge the accusers without evidence is an act of discretion, not an indication of guilt or innocents. What's the difference between 2 and 6 accusers, when lobbyist pay-off hundreds of politicians to get their way. Slick Willie had more than six accusers, and Democratic hypocrites knew he was innocent and the accusers were all sleezy bimbos.

Now, let's talk about the real problems, which are finally swinging the other way, just as all cycles always do - pedophilia, blackmail and intimidation, and the ignored/condoned abuse of power.

One has to be extremely naive or ignorant not to know that blackmail and intimidation have been rampant in politics for decades.
https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/uncategorized/european-politicians-are-realizing-blackmail-is-the-game/

Hell, our entire foreign policy has been based on these successful tactics, which have been well documented by John Perkins, who was an "Economic Hitman".

The syndromes that cause the pendulum of corruption and abuse of power to swing up have been labeled the "credibility trap" by Jesse's Cafe, and "control fraud" by Bill Black, who was the lead investigator during the S&L crisis. The definitions can be found in another good article at Twisted - http://twistedlittlethings.com/tlt/2016/06/06/why-a-lawless-hillary-equals-the-greatest-depression-2/#more-3585.

I would argue the "credibility trap" and "control fraud" death spiral started with those infamous words, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky”. Some may say it was Watergate, but I disagree because Nixon actually suffered the consequences. The reason it has gotten so much worse is because we all accepted it by adopting the Al Davis attitude of "just win baby".

The pedophilia sicko's have been haunting the halls of power for centuries, but we hoped in the land of equal enforcement of the rule of law these mentally ill people would be filtered out of society, instead of rising to the top. Starting with the Catholic priest , to Jerry Sandusky, Denny Hestert, and Epstein's Island of I'll repute there have been many signposts on the way to the swamp that is ruining our way of life and economy.

All of these wack jobs are evil, but when they rise in politics, the deep state knows how to exploit their secrets to impose harmful legislation on the rest of us. If you are still naive about the NSA, that tracks everyone's digital life, yet has not thwarted one terrorist attack (http://twistedlittlethings.com/tlt/2013/10/06/gen-alexander-nsa-has-no-terrorist-stops-to-its-credit/); their primary function is to find money for a broke govt and to dig up the dirt on powerful people for extortion - http://twistedlittlethings.com/tlt/2013/06/23/what-if-the-nsa-bugged-obama-before-he-became-president/.

The solution is blind justice, which will never exist as long as the career politician does. Short term limits is required before any meaningful reform takes place.

It is not the Liberal Media who is pressing most of the charges here. It is the RNC and many top Republicans other than Trump. The New Yorker did a great job putting the pieces together of all the accusations and denials. It was a fair report.

FrankBrady

The RNC and "many top Republicans" are demonstrating in their cowardly attacks on Judge Roy Moore that they are every bit as evil and contemptible as their Democrat counterparts. As this is written, the "evidence" produced by Gloria Allred is shown to be a fraud. Moore is being savaged by a gang of liars (including a 3 times divorced, 3 times bankrupt, serial "victim" with a record of levying similar false charges against a number of pastors) and others responding to robo-calls promising rewards for dirt on Roy Moore.

FrankBrady

...continued. The fact is that the political establishment, including the GOP leadership, is terrified of Moore because his success would rekindle seething social conservatives who are furious with it for abandoning issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, and Second Amendment rights. Nothing that Judge Moore is accused of doing decades ago comes close to the lasting damage the Establishment is doing NOW to the American people.

always thought our system is a little messed up where we focus too much on whether a politician cheated on a spouse versus poliy and record, but pedophilia is a whole other issue. people putting party above country or character are nuts in my opinion. hitting on under age children should be something everyone an agree on is wrong and not tolerated. there are simply too many accusers and corroborating witnesses to dismiss it and calls to wait for the facts defy common sense.

Typical DNC dirty tricks. Neither the fake Fusion GPS Russia dossier nor the Billy Bush GOP hit on Trump in the 30 days before that election worked. The Alabama guy was state supreme court chief justice and in public service for 40 years with no complaints. Then suddenly 30 days before the election (when not enough time to investigate and refute), the DNC reaches into their Leninist playbook and pulls out the gender card. Even Karl Marx would be offended by the lack of hard evidence in this case. Voters should be a tiny bit suspicious of several decades old stories surfacing in the last minutes before an election. How about something recent from the last few years before falsely slandering the guy as an Anthony Weiner style sex pervert. Alabama voters will be the laughing stock of the nation if they fall for this DNC gender propaganda and vote to turn the country over to Hillary and the War Party. Unlikely to happen, but can’t blame Hillary and the War Party for trying. BTW, let’s hear about Hillary’s sex life for a change, whether the rumors of her and Weiner’s ex-wife are true.

Joelg5, please, you really dont want to hear about Hillary's sex life, do you? Hasn't she put us through enough? BTW, behind the curtain, which includes the Secret Service, everyone knows her preference. I don't know how either sex is attracted to her, but as Harvey Weins"teen" demonstrated, there are plenty of people willing to sell their souls and bodies for advancement or simply to keep their job. The bigger problem is protecting the exploited children from these sick f*cks, as pedophilia is rampant in the halls of power.

This entire Roy Moore issue is about winning/stealing elections w/o having to bother with troublesome variables like candidates & policy. Roy Moore has pretty clear political positions, so what exactly do his opponents (D & R) stand for? no idea... which is exactly why Moore will win & the establishment will lose... being the side that does the smearing isn't "good enough" to win, and rightfully so.
