At 19, Alexa Curtis loves being her own boss. Here’s what she told Forbes magazine: “I guess I’m a true type A entrepreneur. I never think anything is good enough and probably won’t until I feel completely established. But I feel I'm finally making my mark. Even though I’ve been working nonstop since I was 12, this passion and drive just gets stronger everyday.”
Born and raised in Mansfield, a small, rural town in Eastern Connecticut, Alexa longed to escape. When she was 7, her father was wrongly convicted of a heinous crime and put in a maximum-security prison. He got out when she was twelve.
As a teen, she was severely bullied and dealt with depression for many years as a result of constantly comparing herself to what she saw online. After this experience, Alexa developed a very strong calling to help teens, which led her to create a forum of social media and mental health.
