n matthew 6:24 when jesus says to not serve god and money. That you cant serve both at the same time. To either be devoted to one and despise the other. Meaning jesus is saying dont work for money. Work for god instead and he will provide? Because your minds gonna be focused on one or the other. Then he goes on saying why you shoudnt worry about not having money. So dont you think that promoting working for money in a sence goes against it? And we should live by faith? Jesus also says in luke 14:33 that we must forsake all . I wanna know your thoughts on this. Thanks :) I just recently realized this and came across people who are acutally living by faith and god is providing these needs and i know not many church's teach these things no more.
@DavidMorales132 - great question - I think that the meaning of the verse comes down to don't make money your God. By that I mean, there will always be the temptation to look towards money for happiness, confidence, power, etc. That is serving the god of money. I think that money is a great teacher of God. If we don't integrate money into our lives then we miss the power of the stewardship message. If we truly get the stewardship message (which runs deep) we are truly closer to God. As far as Faith goes, it is essential that we believe that God provides for our needs. At the same time, we have to do our part. I wouldn't agree with the notion that we don't need to get a job because God is going to provide everything that we need. I believe God provides the job so that we can do our part. Plus we are instructed to provide for our family (1 Timothy 5:8) which I don't believe we can do without some sort of monetary basis. Those are just my beliefs. The answer to this could actually be a book!
