The predictive power of fundamentals. I'll never forget meeting with a couple where the wife worked at JC Penney and was considering continuing to hold the stock. I told them that their fundamentals were crap and that they'd likely go much lower. They decided to go against my professional judgment and held onto the stock. Now it's 10-fold below what it was then. Knowing fundamentals tells you SO much about a company. They continued to hold from an emotional stoandpoint (of having worked for the company and feeling an allegiance to their stock), whereas I had an objective point of view that could have saved them a TON of money in her 401k. Fundamentals matter!

Some people are simply looking for agreement...a stamp of approval rather than the truth.
