Looking at a former position from AP (VIAB) Looking back we bought in at the mid 60's, looking like it might be time to avg down to recoup some losses here company looks strong other than it's debt which should fix it's self as the price goes up. Am I reading this correctly? before buying more shares

Yes, you're correct. If it starts to hold above its 200-day moving average, then it would likely be confirming that the tide has turned for them and it would probably be worth averaging down on it then. Right now, it's under that moving average. If it failed to climb above that moving average, another point to watch would be to see if it makes a "higher low" than it did back in November of last year.
