This week, CSIS hosted an event on foreign policy towards North Korea with Kang Kyung-wha, South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Madeleine K. Albright, former U.S. Secretary of State. This discussion focused on the difference between dealing with North Korea during Mrs. Albright's time in government; and now. The most significant change is the challenges of negotiating with leader Kim Jong-un. He has isolated himself, not meeting any foreign leader of significance, is unpredictable and has a penchant for brinkmanship.
