China will never want to escalate a war on the peninsula. Bonnie's scenarios are valid and the point she makes that the 1961 China-NK Mutual Aid and Cooperation Treaty, while binding on the surface, could readily be ignored by the Chinese, if it doesn't suit their best interest, is compelling.
